Ever felt like something was wrong, but you couldn't quite put your finger on it? I've felt that way about Church for a long time. That feeling sent me on a journey to discover and uncover the truth at the center of Christianity and the Church. The truth at the center of both is The Truth, the person of Truth, the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Truth is a Spirit of Unity, who unifies us as a family with one Father and one Lord. A family isn't unified by uniformity of thought or action. They're unified by name. The family of God can include many different kinds of people, groups, and expressions of church, and still be one family. But the history of the Church has been an attempt to create unity through uniformity of thinking. It's what we sometimes call Orthodoxy or Systematic Theology. While it's good to have core truths and ideas, and to be in the process of refining and defining those, core truths are not the center of Christianity or the Church. The Trinity is the center. It's our relationship with God that defines us. That's what makes us Christian. It's Christ in us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that makes us Christian, and what makes Christians the Church.
The Church is defined by relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
It's that relationship that Satan has sought to attack the most, in order to get the Church separated from the direct presence of God, in order to instigate and institute his own version of church. Satan's version of church is One Leader, One Truth, and One Church. This is Satan's counterfeit church. Throughout the history of the Church, there have been these two versions of Church in competition for control of God's people.
"Prostitute" traces the history of how these two versions of Church have played out through the centuries, as God has continually refined His Church away from Satan's counterfeit church.
